Missing Money
Perhaps one of the lowest points in my life involved some missing money. I was accused of stealing money from people who I at the time thought of as good friends. I thought they should have known me better than that, but I was surprised to know that they thought less of me than I could have ever imagined. The worst part was that it seemed my fate had been decided before I even knew there was any money missing, and that it didn?t matter what I said or where I even was when it went missing. I was just guilty, no questions asked.
The missing money I supposedly took was for a guitar. At least that is what they told me after the fact. The truth of the matter was that they money they claimed to be missing was for the bills, and it was money collected from all of our roommates. The person holding the money was going to use it to buy a guitar, which didn?t sit well with me, and then pay it back next payday. No one ever agreed to this. When he went to look, he found that the money was gone and he started to raise a stink about the missing money.
The funny part was that no matter what I said, he and his girlfriend were convinced I was responsible for the missing money, and there was nothing in their eyes that said they would consider anything else. They were mad, as I would imagine any would be, and they really tried their hardest to get my boyfriend to dump me over it. After that, I really started to smell a rat. Even worse, this guy got his guitar, and it left me to wonder what was really going on with this missing money.
In the end, I figured out what happened to the missing money, even though the blame was set upon me forever. The money went to the guitar. He wanted it but didn?t have the money for it, so he thought he?d kill two birds with one stone. He got his guitar and he could blame me for the missing money to try to get my boyfriend to leave me. How did he get it if the money was gone I ask you? He was a big fat liar! Sadly, he kept his guitar, but my boyfriend stayed. He knew better, even if he didn?t handle it as well as he should have. Years later the girlfriend in the equation wanted to apologize to me but I never took her up on that. I found, thankfully, that I was over it. I knew the truth and as far as I was concerned, that was all that mattered. Though a part of me hopes it eats away at them for a long time to come. They?ve got it coming.
