Book Reports

When children hear the words book report they often emit a groan of frustration. Many generations have dreaded writing book reports, and that may not change any time soon. Some children find reading to be a great joy, while other struggle. Even the best readers still hate to write book reports, however, and this can lead to a lot of cheating. If you search online, you can find many places to buy already written book reports and term papers. Do you know if your child is aware these sites exist?

For a price, you can get book reports on large variety of books, and these are available in high school and the college level. Some children will cheat no matter what, but even the best students can get seduced by the lure of an extra two hours of free time. If they dont have to write their own book reports, they have more time to gab on the phone with friends, or more time for video games.

Parents can help eliminate this problem by talking more with their childrens teachers. If you know when a book report is due, you can make sure they are working on it. Ask them to see their progress, not just their finished report. If you see them working on it, you can be sure they are writing it for themselves, not downloading it from the Internet. If you arent sure, have a look at the finished product and ask your child some questions about the report. If you are familiar with the book they were supposed to read, ask them a few questions. If they seem to draw a blank at every turn, ask them if they are indeed writing their own book reports. Students who have read and understood a book, and written a report on it, should be able to answer basic questions about the book.

In the event that you find out your child is cheating and purchasing book reports off of the Internet, or from someone else, you should ask them why. In some cases, it is not a matter of laziness or cheating, it may mean that your child is struggling in school. They may have something as simple as bad vision, or they may have a deeper problem like a learning disability. If the latter is the case, they may have been too embarrassed to talk to you about it, or are afraid of being labeled as stupid. This is a chance to help your child catch up, and make the most of their educational experience.
