It is hard think of night vision glasses and not think about stalking and murder. Whenever I think about night vision goggles, my first association is that scene at the end of silence of the lambs. You know the one I'm talking about agent Clarice Starling is searching for the Buffalo Bill killer in his house in complete darkness. He is sneaking up on her, seeing her as clear is day through his goggles night vision. He almost gets her, but she turns and fires just in the nick of time.
This image made buying night vision glasses particularly unappealing to me for years. I do a lot of camping and outdoor hiking, but I thought that I had no need for a night vision scope. I am not a hunter or a stalker, and I certainly am not in the military. Then one day, I actually got to use them. I have loved night vision goggles ever since.
A friend of mine actually brought in night vision gear along on a camping trip. He was not very new to camping both of us were avid outdoorsman. He loved watching night creatures, and so he bought used Russian night vision goggles for cheap. They weren't the newest model, but they were amazing. You could see every movement for 20 yards around. Further than that, things got a little hazy. Nonetheless, they were much better than looking with your naked eye on a dark night like that.
One of the neatest things about night vision spy goggles is, the darker it is outside, the better they work. You don't really need night vision glasses on a bright night. An experienced woodsman with decent vision can see everything that he needs to see without night vision goggles. I don't even use flashlights when I go camping normally, but once I got to see all of those outdoor critters moving around at night, I knew that I was hooked. I had to finds night vision goggles for sale.
I am glad that I have those night vision goggles now, but I am also glad that I didn't start using them too soon. You see, not having the luxury of night vision goggles is a really good thing if you are a beginning camper. It means that you have to develop your other senses, and learn to read the woods at night. If I had had the luxury of night vision, I never would have done this.
